Nissan has achieved an outstanding results through their VE efforts focusing on function analysis as a key approach to support “Nissan Revival Plan”, “Nissan 180” and “Nissan Value-Up” programs by incorporating VE in their businesses on daily basis. They have set goals by top-down initiative, and then promoted company-and-division-wide cross-functional efforts to attain these goals. They have also developed an integrated VE programs involving their suppliers. It is noteworthy that VE has played an important role in contributing V-shape recovery under the leadership of Mr. Carlos Ghosn, the CEO. |

Hokuetsu Industries Co., Ltd.

Hokuetsu (known by their original brand AIRMAN) has initiated a company-wide VE activity since 1997. At that time the company was struggling against the difficulty in losing their domestic market share for their portable compressors for construction. The main focus of their efforts has shifted from cost-reduction to value improvement, which succeeded in increasing competitiveness. VE effort is positioned as a key driving force behind the corporate management. From the top management to the general employees, they are highly motivated by their value improvement efforts. |

Central Japan International
Airport Co., Ltd.

In pursuit of a “convenient and economically competitive airport (CENTRAIR)” which is one of the corporate policies, Central Japan International Airport widely applied VE methods in the construction of new airport, aiming at setting an inexpensive landing fee as well as securing the necessary functions for an international airport by minimizing the project total cost, which resulted in more than 100 billion yen cost saving. This has shown an excellent example of introducing private sector’s management technique into a public work project. This is the second organization to receive Miles Award for Public Sector, following the same award given to Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 2004. |
