Dates: Tue. October 30 & Wed. October 31, 2008
Place: Arcadia Ichigaya (Tokyo, Japan)
Theme: Now it's time for "SHINKA" - evolution, deepening and true value

Call for Papers:
SJVE is seeking a strong presence of representatives from VE societies around the world at our annual VE conferences, in order to update Japanese Value Engineers on the variety of innovative VE methods and techniques that are being practiced internationally. We invite you and your membership to submit proposals for technical presentations at the 41st SJVE Conference to be held on October 30 - 31, 2008 in Tokyo.
We also extend a fraternal welcome to all those who wish to experience our interesting conference programs and take advantage of networking with Japanese value practitioners.

For Conference preliminary announcement, please click here.

How to Submit Your Paper for "INTERNATIONAL VE FORUM":
This year, we will have a new "INTERNATIONAL VE FORUM" in which we invite speakers from overseas and have them present their views on a specific topic related to VE and bring them into discussion with other presenters and the audience. To this end, we strongly encourage you to submit a proposal on the following exclusive topic:

Integration of VE and its related techniques in order to improve the potential of VE outcomes
(ex. TRIZ, QFD, 6 SIGMA, TEAR DOWN, FAST, etc.)

Important Notes:
Please read through the following notes carefully BEFORE you submit a proposal.
* Please write your proposal related to the topic shown above.
* We encourage you to submit an INNOVATIVE proposal.
* ALL SUBMITTED PAPERS will be included and published in the conference proceedings.
* All those authors who are able to attend the conference will be invited to speak at the "INTERNATIONAL VE FORUM" scheduled on Friday morning (October 31, 2008). Each of them will have 10 - 15 minutes to sum up their papers and make supplementary comments. Since the theme presented is one of the most topical issues not only among Japanese value practitioners but also VE experts around the world, the aim of this forum is to bring about an interactive and active exchange of opinions, views and new insights by all the forum participants.
* All the International participants (including speakers) will be requested to pay 20,000 YEN/EACH to bear part of the expenses associated with simultaneous interpretation during the conference. The reason is to provide our International participants with high quality English-Japanese translation service, which is the key for a successful conference.

Important Dates:
In order for us to fully develop and process necessary details, please remember the following deadlines:

SUNDAY JULY 20, 2008: Please let us know about your intention of submitting a paper and/or attending the conference to present your paper at the International VE Forum.
Once we receive a response from you, we will send you a guideline for preparing a conference paper with a sample format.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2008: Please send us the complete paper including illustrations and 2-by-2 inch photo of the author. If you are attending the conference, please also send the audio-visual materials (ppt or overhead slides) to be used at the forum presentation.
