WELCOME

It has been a hard time for us to stay competititve in the global market due to the runup of the petroleum and raw materials, or rise of the yen tremendously affecting the corporate revenues. Based on such an economical background, VE should be a topic of focus because of its effectiveness in providing our customers with new value and minimizing the total cost of products, services and projects.

The concept of this year's SJVE Conference is "SHINKA", which has several meanings with a same pronounciation depending on how it is written in Chinese characters. The first SHINKA is INNOVATION, meaning continuing change and diversity, the second is DEEPENING, to further explore the world of VE and the third is TRUE VALUE, which demonstrates the real capability of value practitioners.

Currently, the conference steering committee is working very hard in planning and preparing an excellent conferene program allowing the conference participants with a great opportunity for networking, learning, upskilling and exchanging information. We look forward to seeing you in Tokyo!

Day 1 - Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Opening ceremony, SJVE Award, Excellent Paper Award, Miles Award presentations, Keynote Speech "Toyota Way of production and human resource development" by Mr. Yoshihito Wakamatsu, President, Culman Co., Ltd., Presentation by Miles Award receipient, Presentation by SJVE award winning company, Special Lecture, and Evening Reception.

Day 2 - Friday, October 31st, 2008

Technical presentation, Case reports, International VE Forum, Cost Management by leading companies, Technical Lecture "Hypothetical analysis - a way you can make decision without delusion" by Mr. Kaoru Takuchi, Science Writer, Panel Discussion "SHINKA for VE in Construction", VE Consultation Session and Memorial Lecture.
